Phytoaccumulation and phytoextraction are the main mechanisms
involved in the elimination of heavy metals by aquatic
macrophytes (Valipour et al., 2011). The results confirmed that the
accumulation of Cu metal ion depends on the initial metal concentration
and increases with increasing its initial concentration
(Table 3). The plant has a high level of heavy metal accumulation in
root tissues as compared to the shoot tissues. The plants suddenly
showed disturbances in their growth and morphological deformities
within 4 days under the increased loading concentrations
at above 30 mg Cu/L due to exceeding the saturation limit of metal
