8.3.1 Wave shapesThe wave shape obtainable on reactors will be of a damped cosine form, without any saturation effects on the tail, since there is no complete ferro-magnetic circuit through the windings. This wave shape should be characterized mainly by its frequency, determined by the reactor inductance and the generator capacitance, and the damping coefficient. However, practice has been to specify reactor wave shapes as for transformers, that is, by T1, Td and Tz (see figures 3b and B.16).
