Table 1 presents the mean scores of
the survey items about young learners’
learning motivation. The mean scores above
3 points meant that students agreed with the
statements, so the first two items with high
mean scores were selected to discuss further.
As for the variable of learning motivation,
Item 6 was the highest one (M = 3.27) which
suggested that students were motivated by
learning English popular songs and they
wanted to improve their listening ability.
The result was assumed that this was
probably because some pronunciations of
the words were hard to be discerned in the
song. It might be quite challenging for
students to hear every word clearly. The
second highest was Item 2 (M = 3.26) which
indicated that students were very interested
in learning English popular songs.
