hypothesis is that yak dung patches on the alpine pastures would
lead to plant death and degradation underneath dung patches
although pastures near the dung patches may grow faster due to
nutrient releases from the dung. The objective of this study was
to investigate the effects of simulated yak dung patches on soil
nutrients and pasture growth. It is expected that the results from
this study will help to better understand the inter-relationships between
the grazing yaks and pasture/soil, which would benefit the
grazing systems of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau to improve productivity
and sustainability
