Assessment of active knowledge can take many forms, some
of which are indistinguishable from the learning process.
Assessments can be individual or group, or a combination of
both. It is important to note, however, that assessments must
generate evidence of individual achievement in order to be
useful. Assessment of inquiry should smoothly link content
with process. Assessment should mirror what is most highly
valued - scientific understanding, reasoning, and knowledge.
As with instruction, the student should be central to
assessment.
