Post-larval spawned from the wild Andaman Sea
brood stock were obtained from a hatchery in central Thailand. They
were transported to Kasetsart University in Bangkok and reared in 2-
ton indoor tanks supplied with chlorinated seawater at ~28 °C. Shrimp
were reared on a diet of commercial feed pellets (5% body weight d−1
)
for 3 months prior to the experiments. Every month from the PL stage
until the age of 3 months, shrimps were routinely confirmed to be
negative for the presence of YHV, WSSV, TSV, and IHHNV (Manual of
Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals 2006).
