A cow must have a well structured udder and teat shape with a strong suspensory ligament to have a long productive life in the herd. A very feminine cow with a high degree of functional effciency will have an udder that is strongly attached and well balanced with four defined quarters.
The udder and teats should have fine texture and soft supple feel. This leads to a calf having little trouble finding a teat and sucking ,which in turn improves the chances of the cow having a high weaning percentage.
