Effects of temperature
The effect of temperature upon the viscosity of gases such as nitrogen and oxygen is small in the range 0-50°C. This is consistent
with the small effect of test temperature upon Figg air permeation times, reported by Millard [4.61] (Fig. 4.49). The effect of
temperature was not greatly influenced by moisture content.
Millard [4.61] found that the effect of temperature upon initial surface absorption shown in Fig. 4.46 could be predicted on
the basis of known variations of water viscosity and surface tension with temperature. Figure 4.50 shows the temperature
correction function recommended by Millard together with some averaged, experimental data.
