Crude mucus was obtained from the intestines of shrimp (39.51 ± 0.53 g) by gentle scraping and was suspended in cold HEPES-Hanks's Buffer (H-H Buffer, Luis-Villaseñor et al., 2011). Then, the solution was centrifuged at 13,000 g for 10 min at 4 °C to remove non-soluble material. The concentration of crude mucus was determined with the Bradford method using bovine serum albumin as standard, and the crude mucus was diluted with H-H Buffer to a final concentration of 1 mg/mL.
