In conclusion, with the limitations of the study in
mind, working with negative perceptual biases maintaining
SP seems to provide relatively strong and enduring
results. Our results also indicate that individual therapy
with a protocol specifically designed to face idiosyncratic
problems may be applicable in the treatment of adolescent
SP. Both individual and group cognitive therapy are
effective, but the study also demonstrates that it is important
to control for the effect of natural self-exposure in
comparative studies, as seen in the results of the AP condition
in the current study
