through applying a multi-region input–output model (MRIO) extended by water consumption coefficients.
We proceed as follows.
Firstly, we construct the regional input–output table for the South-East and North-East and merge each IO table for the South-East, North-East and UK into a MRIO table.
Secondly, we extend them to water MRIO tables to evaluate water footprints in the two regions and the UK and identity the key or leading sectors which have dominant influence in terms of water footprints using backward and forward linkage analysis.
