Practitioners were asked whether or not they use an external agency to monitor social media for things said about their companies online. About 34% of the sample (69 practitioners) indicated they use an external agency for such monitoring. Regarding frequency of receipt of those reports from the agency, 9practitioners (4.5% of the overall sample) receive them monthly, and 13 practitioners (6.5% of the sample) receive them weekly. 45 practitioners indicated that they receive them on a different basis but did not specify. With regard to policies that provide guidelines for reading the reports, 43 practitioners (21.4%) indicated they do not have a policy while 22 practitioners (10.9%) do.
