The FrauMunster is sometimes used to refer to the FrauMunster Church. Its literal English translation is “Women’s Minster”, but it is sometimes inappropriately translated as “Our Lady Minister”. It is located in Zurich, in Switzerland, and it is the capital of Fraumunster Abbey. It has a theocratic form of government. It is a church that was developed on the remains of an old abbey for women which was founded in the 9th century by a nobleman for his daughter. He gave the convent the lands of Uri, Zurich, and the Albis forest, and he also granted the convent immunity, putting it under the authority of his district. Now, it is one of the three biggest churches in Zurich, and St. Peter’s Church and Grossmunster complete the trio.
