Dietary catechins are polyphenolic compounds that are found in
plants, such as tea, especially green tea, and have been shown to
have strong antioxidant activities with some efficacy for improving
human health (Johnson, Bryant, & Huntley, 2012; Oze et al., 2014).
Consumption of tea has been reported to reduce the risk of major
chronic diseases, such as cancer, coronary heart disease and stroke
(Oze et al., 2014). These putative health benefits have resulted in
attention being given to green tea catechins as food additives to
improve the antioxidant properties and shelf-life of some foods,
such as dairy products
