IN RELATION TO REALITY
Inability to Deal Constructively With Reality
Immature persons are characterised by an inability to change what can and should be changed, and to adjust to whatever cannot be changed. They are unable to deal with unpleasant and painful realities; they either deny them or resort to magical or miraculous solutions.
Chronic Lack of Concentration
This is manifest in an inability to follow a topic of conversation, with a tendency to bring in irrelevant material or to make strange, illogical statements which conflict with objective information. They hold on to fanatic convictions such as prejudices or odd religious beliefs that are rigid and unchangeable. Their style of communication is vague, abstract, or confused. They are unable to persevere in simple tasks, unless constantly guided or supervised; they exhibit a complete lack of concern for the quality their work.
