Equivalence Groups
You can attach a resource row to an equivalence group. You do this by selecting a non-zero number using the
spin control. You can define up-to twenty equivalence groups.
The purpose of equivalence groups is to allow the reassignment process to be more automated amongst resources
that are deemed to be (more or less) equivalent. A set of folders or a set of guillotines may be contenders, for
example. Typically, once you have decided that you have a group of “equivalent” resources, you will want to add
a “queue” row for the equivalence group. The queue row attached to an equivalence group will be the row into
which you first import processes that are destined for one of the members of the group. Hence, the queue row so
created would normally be marked as infinite (see below).
Back at the EPB, within the context menu of a queue resource row (that is the queue for an equivalence group), a
couple of additional options will be available.
Here is an example of how an equivalence group is identified on the EPB:
