The print edition of the Dartmouth Medal–winning Dictionary of American Regional English (DARE) took 27 years to finish all six volumes. Now, in less than 2 years, the digital edition has been launched. The digital DARE contains all the material from the print edition and is an amazing database. Users unfamiliar with the six print volumes should know that it is a dictionary of regionalisms—words that are not common throughout the U.S. The “FAQ: Getting Started” section is a helpful first step.
