The tonsillectomies were performed under general
anaesthesia with blunt dissection along the tonsil capsule.
Most operators used resorbable sling sutures on
the distal pole.Haemostasis was obtained via compression,
bipolar electric coagulation or in a few cases by
piercing the tonsillar bed. The intervention was performed
as ambulatory surgery for healthy patients
above the age of 4 years. The remaining patients were
hospitalized for 24 h as the point of departure.
