Dietitian are legally considered experts in nutrition. An individual with a "registered dietitian" as their designated title must be registered with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR). They are required to have completed a bachelor's degree program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, an internship program, and passed the national exam administered by the CAR. They often work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, community and public health settings, culinary and food services, businesses, private practices, and other health care facilities. Some dietitians may work in universities and research facilities where they teach and study the effects of food on human bodies.
