3.2. Effects of experimental parameters on heavymetal biosorption
3.2.1. Effect of pH on biosorption pH is the most important parameter affecting the biosorption of heavy metal ions.
Changes in pH can affect the biosorption mechanisms (surface precipitation or adsorption),
the charge of the biosorbent, the degree of ionization,
and the speciation of the biosorbate .
pH values were adjusted using 0.1 mol L?1NaOH and HCl solutions,
prior to the addition of 2.5 mg biosorbent.
The pH of the solution mixture (after adding the biosorbent) was recorded during and after biosorption,
and no clear changes observed
