The paper presents the results of a research into an extracurricular activity for Art students, which we call The Design Club. This
involves a master-disciple learning partnership intended to improve the traditional relationship between the Art teacher and her
students. The main aims of the club are to encourage talented teenagers to practice the techniques of book illustration and to learn
how to make public their works. The club also promotes a social dimension of learning – the students come together and have the
opportunity to discuss and support one another even if finally their products remain individual ones.
