Dried safflower petal powder (1 g) was extracted with
20 mL of 80 % (v/v) of aqueous methanol in an ultra-sonic
bath for 30 min at 4 C. Thereafter, the filtrate was subjected
to further extraction using 50 and 20 % (v/v)
aqueous methanol. This process was replicated twice more
to ensure that the extraction was complete. Finally, the
extract was mixed, filtered through a 0.45 lm PTFE
membrane, dried at reduced pressure, and resolved in 2 mL
of HPLC grade water for further HPLC analysis
