Stop and think
You might like to think how these issues of ‘personal preference’ in the socialization process are
important to you. For example, the extent to which one wants to ‘fit in’ to the organization (or that part of the organization one is entering) and the extent to which one wishes to preserve autonomy from it can lead to interesting tensions. Can you think of situations in which you have been in conflict with efforts to socialize you into organizational values you have thought to be ridiculous?
