The final products of these transformations are used by the methanogens. In this
study, besides the methanogenic phylum Euryarchaeota described above, the bacterial clones were affiliated with 29 phyla, mainly
Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes, followed by
Actinobacteria, Cyanobacteria, Fibrobacteres, Spirochaetes, Synergistetes,
Tenericutes, Verrucomicrobia and others, whose relative abundance
did not exceed 1% in the tested samples of MP leachate
(Fig. 7).
