This result is different from those of Chalmers et al. (1986) and Behboudian et al. (1994) as well; and they attribute
the osmotic adjustment to successful remove of solutes from the leaves to the fruits, which are accumulated during the period of water stress, resulting in continuation of the photosynthesis process. However, in our study this phenomenon might not be the result of osmotic adjustment, as two months had passed since the water deficit ceased.
