This acid, H 2 S 2 O 8, is a solid that melts at 65°C. The acid and its salts are such strong oxidizing agents
that combustible materials can be ignited by them. The usual salts that are widely used as oxidizing
agents are the sodium, potassium, and ammonium salts. Electrolytic oxidation of bisulfate is the usual
method of producing the acid.
