Less than 40% of MSM reported using condom-compatible lubricants, and over 80% of FSW did not use lubricants at all. Importantly, questions did not define “safe” as specifically relating to the prevention of HIV, and did not specify that this meant with latex condoms. However, since a large proportion of FSW reported using condoms, it is notable that low percentages reported that condom compatible lubricants were the safest.
