Kevin Smith Joins Houghton International as Senior Vice President and President, EMEA and Global Transportation MWF

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Smith as Senior Vice President of Houghton International and President of EMEA and Global Automotive and Aerospace, reporting to me. He will assume regional general management of Europe, Middle East and Africa and the global leadership of Houghton specialty product lines for the major transportation segments, including Auto Primary, Auto Components and Aerospace. He will be responsible for leading all global commercial activities to drive growth in the Transportation MWF market in cooperation with relevant functional and regional teams. Kevin will also join the boards of Houghton’s European enterprises as appropriate. Additionally, he will join the Executive Committee, and I have confidence that he will bring valuable perspective and leadership to this team.

Kevin brings over 30 years of commercial and general management experience to Houghton. His background spans the industrial, specialty chemical and strategic consulting industries. Kevin most recently joins us from a two-year entrepreneurial assignment focused on a buy and build specialty chemical business in Western Europe, as well as global investments, with the support of private equity. Prior to this venture, Kevin was the Chief Executive Officer, EMEA for Arysta Lifescience, a $1.6 billion global specialty crop protection firm. Prior to Arysta, Kevin held the executive position of Group Managing Director, Europe for Sun Chemical, the $3.8 billion number one specialty chemical company in the global printing inks and organic pigments industry. Early in his career, Kevin worked for Perkins Engines, based in Wayne, Michigan and Cresap Telesis (a Towers Perrin company), based in Paris, France, both in commercial and business leadership roles.

Kevin holds a BA from Leeds University in French and an MBA from the London Business School. A truly global citizen, Kevin will relocate from France to the UK with his wife, Liliane. Kevin will join Houghton International on Monday, February 1 at the Trafford Park, UK offices. Please join me in welcoming Kevin to the organization.
