Contents Bisacodyl
Indications Constipation in bedridden patients, or due to change of food or environment, illness or digestive disorders. Relief of evacuation in painful conditions eg hemorrhoids. Pre- & post-op. Prep for barium enema, prep of colon for proctosigmoidoscopy.
Dosage Constipation Adult & childn >10 yr 1-2 tab at bedtime or 1 adult supp once daily. Childn 4-10 yr 1 tab at bedtime or 1 childn supp (5 mg) once daily, 4 yr 1 tab at bedtime then 1 childn supp the next morning.
Administration Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take on an empty stomach for rapid effect. Do not take w/in 1 hr of antacids, milk or other dairy products.
Contraindications Ileus, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal conditions, acute inflammatory disease; severe abdominal pain & dehydration.
Special Precautions Childn; pregnancy.
Adverse Drug Reactions Abdominal discomfort & diarrhea. Fluid & electrolyte imbalance, hypokalemia.

Drug Interactions Diuretics, adrenocorticosteroids, cardiac glycosides.
