a recent study [56], significant differences were found in the fecalmicrobial communities of dogs with multicentric lymphoma comparedto healthy dogs, with a decrease of bacterial families that are believedto be associated with canine gut health. This event, as well as possibleimmunosuppression caused by chemotherapy and cancer [8–10], mayrepresent potential factors concurring to explain findings from thepresent study. Nevertheless, the low number of examined animals inour study do not permit to extract definitive conclusions. Thus, furtherand larger cohort studies are needed to confirm these results, as well asto investigate potential risk factors associated with internal parasiteinfections, high-grade multicentric lymphoma and chemotherapy indogs.
