Growth and development stages of rice cultivar‘BRSGOGuara’from germination to physiological maturity were quantified and defined (Table 1). The cultivar evaluated (‘BRSGO Guara’) was having 129 days growth cy- cle from germination to physiological maturity. Rice plants growth cycle is composed of three growth stages. The first stage is vegetative which ex- tends from germination to panicle primordial initiation. The second growth stage extends from panicle primordial initiation to flowering is known as reproductive growth phase. The third growth stage extends from flower- ing to physiological maturity and known as maturity or grain filling growth stage (Fageria, 2007, 2009). The length of vegetative growth stage is deter- mined genetically as well as influenced by environmental factors (Fageria, 2009). However, the length of reproductive and grain filling growth stages are mainly determined genetically and influence of environmental factors is minimum. In addition, vegetative growth stage is having less sensitivity to environmental stresses compared to reproductive and grain filling growth stages. Hence, if there is water deficiency or N deficiency during reproduc- tive or grain filling growth stages, yield will reduce more compared to similar stresses during vegetative growth stage (Fageria, 2007).
