VI. CONCLUSION
This paper tries to find a more accurate way to calculate the
excitation conditions in self-excited air-core pulsed alternators.
The previous references neglected the commutation voltage
drop, causing a deviation between the actual situation and the
derived results. Based on the mathematical models in previ-
ous studies, this paper performed an improved derivation of
the excitation condition considering the commutation voltage
drop. Verified by the full-system virtual prototyping simulation
software, the calculated results given by the improved mathe-
matical model show a much better accordance with the actual
situation.
