In vehicle fuel pathways, co-products from other agriculture or industry process are utilized
as raw material and different allocation methods can be used to clarify the diverse “energy input”
in the raw material.
In the process of using such agricultural waste as corn straw or corncob to produce ethanol which is
originally the co-products, how to calculate the embodied energy is a key issue. And in such pathways
as using agricultural/forestry waste, industrial waste and exhaust gas from steel mill to produce ethanol
as well as the bio-diesel pathway, the similar key issue stands out. The formal research results haven’t
been published when the research on this aspect is just being carried out in China.
