A : You've seen the ads that are windows popping up by the web in the Internet? Today, I read the news about"Is it ethical to block adverts online?" Do you have any thought on that
B : I can see it I Hate all the rubbish advertising on the Internet. Block away please!!! I don't recall ever being tempted to buy a product or use a service etc as a result of them. Quite the contrary, in fact. All they do is annoy the hell out of me & get in the way of accessing the content I'm after. Those that pop-up, take-over, or erupt simply as the cursor crosses them should be banned.
C : it's entirely ethical unlike TV and radio advertising, we pay for the bandwidth. It costs us to receive an ad, so it's right that it's our choice.
A : I don't like those ads the automatically start playing whilst you are trying to read something on the page and even if it lets you pause/mute it then it moves on to the next one it starts again.
B : Ads = noise = unwanted intrusion on my time/life.
Distraction from the main event. If I want to buy something I'll go looking for it.
Ethical to block ads? When has advertising EVER been ethical?
A : Ah.. The ethics of advertising. I worry about what the effect of all this advertising is on a human being. It's very difficult to escape from in every day situations not just on the web. I avoid it as much as possible.
C : Advertisers should always practice the highest ethics when advertising to children. Today, children are connected to advertsing on the internet. In the eyes of children from news content and from entertainment and internet in children's to mimic articles, and children's advertsing ads to be structured like a newscast segment.
