Beer is the most widely and largest consumed alcoholic beverage
in the world, and the third most popular drink overall, ranking
after water and tea (Nelson, 2008). It is produced by the brewing
and fermentation of starches, mainly derived from malted barley,
while certain adjunct crops such as wheat, maize and rice maybe
used. Beer is flavored with hops, which contribute bitterness and
act as a natural preservative. China owns the largest beer production
and consumption in the world (Li, Xu, Schwarz, & Gu, 2007).
