The fatty acid composition of avocado is given in
Table 2. Palmitic, palmitoleic, oleic and linoleic acids
were found to be major fatty acids in avocado.
Arachidic acid was also determined to be in small
amounts in both avocado cultivars. In January, stearic
acid was not present for either variety, nor could linolenic
acid be detected in the Hass variety.
