The last stage began with the end of the Cold War and the opening of the former USSR to transnational corporations. Countries that used to protect their resources and industries from foreign corporations are now opening up those resources and markets. Many of those countries have found that they can benefit from the often superior technology offered by foreign corporations.
Now, the entire globe is in reach of TNCs. For example, Coca Cola is now sold in more territories and countries than there are members of the United Nations.
