The theory of political duties accruing from socio-structural risks, however, makes a supplementary postulate that in case of an unforeseeable risk resulting in the loss of employment, wage replacement benefits should be linked to the last drawn wage for an appropriate period to provide affected individuals with sufficient opportunity ti either reorient themselves professionally or to correct their life courses. The acceptable time frame as also the fixing of the proportion of wage replacement benefits to the level of wages earlier drawn can only be decided in a concrete situation, taking into account prevailing socio-cultural conditions.
