The water consumption peaked the day before
farrowing (Figure 2), and the daily water consumption
differed between room temperatures (F2,29.1 = 4.9, P =
0.002) during the prefarrowing period (d −7 to −1). Sows
at 25°C used about 50% more water [27 L/d (2.4 L/d)]
than sows at lower temperatures [15°C: 18 L/d (2.8 L/d);
20°C: 17 L/d (3.7 L/d); pairwise comparisons P < 0.017].
