As I saw the hotel location it’s just a few walks away from the beach. It is also easy catch a songtel at the main road that only costs 10THB that will go around the area and it also passes by central festival, royal garden and walking street.
I decided to walk-in to A-One Star Hotel instead of booking online as most pictures of the budget hotel are far from reality. During that time I feel so tired and I just wanted to have a rest. Upon arriving at the reception the Guest Service Agent named Nahtaporn W. was looking down while I’m standing in front of the counter. After a few minutes standing there and no one is approaching me, as a guest I decided to approach the staff instead in a polite manner “Excuse me, do you have an available room for walk in?” and she responded “what? (With unfriendly face)” Then I repeated and added if it’s possible to see the room first. Then she responded “No, you already saw the picture (photos in the IPod on top of the counter) and I’m alone the hotel doesn’t show the room whether it’s in the morning or the night time.” After I told her that it’s impossible that there is only one staff working in the hotel, all of a sudden she had a colleague to show me the room. After she told me that she’s alone? As I saw the room it looks quite new and clean so I decided to stay and ignore the rudeness of the staff because I feel so tired during that time. Then I go back the reception, once again she approached me by asking “Yes, how can I help you? (With an arrogant face)” then I responded I’m not going to stand here if I don’t need a room. Then all of a sudden the way Nahtaporn W. talked to me swift and became polite.
I felt so strange it’s like I’m pleasing a staff to sell a room for me, is this really an A-one Star Hotel standard? A budget hotel doesn’t mean it comes with a poor service. As working in a same field of hospitality industry I know the hotel procedures very well. The hotel itself has a good potential to the market. The hotel layout was nice, new, clean and even a good selection of breakfast. But the service of the staff bring it down specially that the front office is the heart of the hotel. As I read the Tripadvisor the hotel had a lot bad review regarding the front office staff. I hope this review will open up the eyes of the management to have a corrective action to their employees.
