The conceptual framework
Variables
The independent variable was the use role play activities to develop students’ English speaking ability, and the dependent variables were the students’ speaking ability, students’ attitude towards using role play activities in teaching English speaking in the classroom.
Methodology
Researcher instruments
The research instruments being applied in this study for quantitative data collection consisted of six lesson plans teaching by using role play activities, English speaking performance test: pre and post –test , rubric of speaking ability for evaluating speaking ability, speaking observation form, students’ attitude questionnaire and focus group interview.
