I'm more an innovator than a creator. Most of my life has been spent making change. But always other people's changes. I don't think I've ever had a truly original idea in my life. But I've always had the ability to recognize a great idea when I see it and make it happen.
The large-scale changes and downsizing that we [at AT&T] have been experiencing over the last decade have been necessary for the company to com pete in a changing world. But it's been costing the company a great deal of money. Hurting loyal employees who are being "surplused" or placed "or placed "at risk," and tearing apart the corporate culture.
