This study attested that laminar melt extrusion is a suitable
technique for the production of a novel oral retard formulation
with a precise drug release over time. The application of the experimental
design for mixtures, associated to a desirability function,
permitted to ensure confidence in the attainment of the required
level of quality. In addition, the mathematical model adopted
proved to be a reliable tool for a proper description of both the
in vitro and the in vivo data shown. Accordingly, it confirms its skill
to be a useful tool for a correct designing of the delivery systems
typology considered in this study.
