Deforestation and growing environmental concerns were the
main driving forces for the launch of wood-plastic composites
(WPC) as a natural wood substitute over two decades ago [4]. Literature surveys revealed numerous research efforts had been well
placed in the areas on improving the properties and the fabrication
of the WPC [5–8]. Several investigations on the WPCs prepared
from recycled post-consumer PP or PE with ‘fresh’ wood flour were
performed and documented [9–13], but there is yet lack of research attempts on recycling of the PVC-based WPC.
