The results of our investigation supported this hypothesis. In common with other researchers, we found that all spices for which we could locate appropriate information have some antibacterial effects: half inhibit more than 75% of bacteria, and four (garlic, onion, all spice and oregano) inhibit 100% of those bacteria tested. In addition, many spices are powerful fungicides.
