Are we excused then from performing our duty until we are purer? Is it possible that an act can be right, a fulfillment of our obligations to others, even though our motives are mixed and our hearts are not fully in it ? I believe so. In terms of moral education itself one can ask whether moral character is not also developed by having standards ,rules of conduct, taught as what a good person does, that learning to distinguish right from wrong actions, to follow moral principles, is one of the ways of becoming virtuous
