2.4.2. Tissue extraction for diazinon
The tissue samples were extracted according to previously described methods
(Elsirafy et al., Barr et al.) with modifications [5,8]. These samples were kept frozen (at
20 8C) in glass containers until analysis. As diazinon is stable under alkaline
conditions, the pHs of samples measured following exhumation and pHs of the
putrefied bone marrow and viscera samples were changed between 8 and 8.5.
Approximately 1 g of tissue was homogenized in a homogenizer and then extracted
with 22 ml hexane. The organic phaseswere then pooled and underwent a clean-up.
