DAY 2 PUTAO – HTAWADUM - NAMKHAM [B/L/D]
Wednesday Early in the morning walk to Putao market (approx 10 min); visit attractive
Monday market often busy with local ethnic tribes.
Return to hotel, breakfast and depart by jeep/truck through the vast Putao plain on pebbled road to Htawadum (14 km, approx. 1 hour). Cross the Malikha river by long-tailed boat to visit famous Kanugmulon Pagoda, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by King Ashoka, the great Indian king. Proceed walking toward Salundum but turn to Nampandum from Lona suspension bridge. Lunch stop and continue walk to Namkham (5 km, approx 3 hours) along smaller villages such as Salundum and Htrandum etc. Namkham, a large Rawang village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range rich in biodiversity of flora and fauna. Named after Hkamti, a Shan name meaning “Golden River”, it has became the centre of cultivation for the fruits that Father Robert Moss had introduced, today famous for its sweet fruits production. Settle in at your guesthouse and walk around the village.
Dinner and overnight at Namkham Village House.
