River
In literature, river mostly means life (you never know
where the river’s going to take you), so it means that
life is always unpredictable and can sometimes be
dangerous.
The boys are a little scared to go into the open water.
This means to grow up. Growing up is difficult and can
be scary.
Neckbone said, “The river is scary enough…”
Also when Mud gets shot and falls into the river. We
thought he might be dead. But then he’s reborn.
