Protocol
The trial comprised a 6-week intervention period (Fig. 1). Participants were assessed immediately before treatment (0 weeks) and immediately after treatment was completed(6 weeks). Furthermore, the aquatic physical therapy group underwent follow-up assessment at 12 weeks
(ie, 6 weeks after the intervention was completed) to determine whether any benefits of the intervention were maintained in the short term and to assess adherence to
independent aquatic physical therapy. Every effort was made to obtain reassessment data on primary outcomes from any participant who withdrew from the study.
